Night falls over the Cascades. As they make their way through the forest, Bigby tells Snow White about how his people, on his mother's side anyway, find their mate. It's whoever produces a pleasing scent, and for Bigby, that person was Snow.
Bigby jumps out at Goldilocks, but she uses her quick reflexes to turn and fire the rifle into his chest. After he falls, she fires a few more rounds into his body for good measure. But Bigby isn't dead.
It's a quiet day in the Fabletown business office. Little Eddie Underfoot, a Lilliputian, climbs up the high shelves to reach the pot of Barley Seeds placed there. But Bufkin the monkey catches him before he can reach it, and flies him down to Bigby's office.
Somewhere up in Canada, a truck carrying a mysterious female passenger was on it's way to Fabletown. the passenger can't believe all the amazing technology the Mundy world holds, as the driver tells her all about the television, radio, and telephones. Suddenly, a car sideswipes them into a large snowdrift.
At the Woodland Luxury Apartments, Bigby Wolf awakens and rouses his roomate, a pig (of the Three Little Pigs). The two quip with one another and Bigby doesn't understand why he always has to give the pig a place to stay every time he escapes from the Farm. The pig tries to make Bigby feel guilty for destroying his home and trying to eat him back when they still resided in the Homelands.
Boy Blue had a rude awakening when he jumped out of bed and stuck his foot on a toy soldier's musket. Pinocchio was in the living room when Blue angrily came out, accusing him of carelessly leaving his toy soldiers on the floor after playing with them.
Late night in a tavern, Jack Horner is trying to convince Thrushbeard to give him thirteen thousand dollars to fund a beanstalk expedition. Jack claims he still has the magic beans from his younger days, but Thrushbeard sees through the deception. He walks away, leaving Jack muttering that he never did like him.
Snow White, Briar Rose, and Cinderella are having lunch together at a fine diner. As is always the case whenever they meet, the topic of conversation is their mutual ex, Prince Charming. About how he dumped all three of them because of his commitment issues.
Bigby doesn't buy Jack's story of getting in a fight with three wooden men. Jack insists he's telling the truth, showing them the wooden leg he broke off one of the attackers. But Bigby and Snow don't have time to waste on one of his schemes tonight.
Morning arrives on the Farm, and Rose Red comes out of the barn after spending half the night helping Weyland repair the tractor, though Bo Peep's sheep has other ideas about what they were up to. Rose meets up with Stinky, the badger, on her way to the farmhouse to relieve Mustard Pot Pete for the day. Pete points out there were many complaints last night that he had to file.
Fabletown is preparing for battle. Barrels of cement are stacked up, blocking off each side of the street. Prince Charming deals with the police who come over to investigate, telling them it is a simple block party and send them back on their way.
The army of Wooden Soldiers reach Fabletown. The Fables start firing off their guns from behind the barriers, though the bullets don't seem to have much effect. Snow watches from the Woodlands balcony with Flycatcher, who relays her orders through a walkie-talkie to Prince Charming.
Red Riding Hood, on her magically enchanted flying bed, surveys the battle below her, where the wooden soldiers burn their way through Fabletown defenses. Her glee is interrupted by an intruding voice in her head, summoning her to the rooftop of the Woodland Building. Frau Totenkinder is waiting for her there.
Bigby visits the apartment of and elderly man he calls "Duff". As they share a beer, Duff tells Bigby that he has cancer. But he tells Bigby not to be sad for him, he lived his life well.
Frankenstein's monster lies on a table, the very same from the story! Dr. Weschler, a scientist working for the Reich, was trying to patch the monster up again when Bigby, in werewolf form, lunged from the doorway.
Bigby brings the Flycatcher and Boy Blue to Rose Red's Greenwich Village apartment. He provides them with plastic bags of blood and tells them that he wants them to recreate the crime scene in an adjacent apartment. He wants them to produce the exact same splatter marks so that he can determine exactly how much blood was found at the scene.
A taxi carrying Bigby races downtown to the Knights of Malta Hospital, where Snow White is currently in labor. King Cole, Boy Blue, and Prince Charming were already in the waiting room when he arrives. Bigby tells Boy Blue he can go vote now that he's back, which Boy Blue replies he already did before he came.
Down in the Woodlands lower levels, Bigby and Cinderella interrogate one of the chopped, splintered heads of the Wooden Soldiers while Beast looks on. The head stars by telling them how the Adversary, not wanting Mundy's or their technology coming into the Homelands and upsetting the delicate balance he created, had all the portals to the Mundane world closed. Meanwhile upstairs, Beauty meets Snow White in the Business Office to learn the ropes of being the Deputy Mayor.
Somewhere in the Homelands, a castle sits in the snowcapped mountains where a small creature flies up the stairs to see his master, a regal, white-haired man of imposing stature. The creature tells him that he found his son in the scrying pool, and to come see for himself. On a cold winter morning, Beast, in his new role as Sheriff of Fabletown, faces an angry crowd of protesters out front of the Woodlands.
Spring falls on the Farm, and the wolf cubs have started flying around in formation with the birds. Watching them from below, Mister North informs Snow White that her children need to start their training, to learn to shapeshift, saying that if she waits too long, they'll be stuck in one form forever.
Jack Horner, a day after leaving Fabletown, is on the road in a rental truck that's hauling a fortune in treasure he stole from Bluebeard vault. Jill, the lilliputian who stole the key to the vault room in exchange for Jack helping her escape the Farm, now sits on a book up on the dashboard, unsatisfied because she has no way to travel.

A typical day in the occupied Homelands, as two goblin soldiers make the rounds collecting taxes. Sixty-three pence from every cottage and hut, no matter how poor they claim to be. The goblins camp out in the woods that night, roasting a lizard over a fire, when a horn is sounded from not far off.
Blue is facing off against a hungry red dragon that guarded the next gate out! Luckily, the witching cloak couldn't be burned, even by a dragon's fire. Blue, with his blade, prepares to strike, but the dragon chomps and catches the end of the cloak in its jaws.
A young lieutenant rides down the road, stopping to ask for direction to the Imperial City. Crispin Bloom is a new transfer, still getting his bearings in this realm. Today is Petition Day, when the citizens can come to the hall of justice and ask the Emperor for a boon.

The night of the Remembrance Day celebration has arrived. All of the Fables who could pass for human dress in their best attire to attend the annual ball at the Woodland Building. John the doorman directs the guests to the 19th floor where a lottery is being held for Prince Charming's lands and title.
Boy Blue wakes up in a cage, with the severed wooden head of the Emperor lying nearby. He's locked up in the middle of a woodcarver's workshop. Working over the head, an old man seems pleased that he's finally awake.
Geppetto fills Pinocchio in on what he and Boy Blue have discussed thus far. Over a meal of steak and eggs, Pinocchio asks him how many worlds he's conquered. The answer is a couple hundred, and they were in the middle of expansion season, when the Adversary conquers new realms.
A limo waits outside the Woodlands Building. Voices speaking in Arabic come from within, sounding none too pleased that there are none out to greet them. Prince Charming spent the night in one of the back rooms so he could avoid the line of aggrieved Fabletown citizens waiting outside in the hall.
Beauty and Prince Charming kiss, then Beauty pulls away. She admits, he was a great kisser, and also that it was an incredibly inappropriate. gesture that will never happen again, no matter what power of seduction he may have.
In his detention cell, Boy Blue goes over with Prince Charming all the war manuscripts and history texts he smuggled out of the Homelands with him during his mission there. The whole cell is filled with books and maps he had hidden inside the Witching Cloak. It would take years for all of the intelligence on the enemy to be absorbed.
The screams from the cell have gone on for two days straight. Frau Totenkinder sits outside in her rocking chair, waiting. As King Cole and Prince Charming approach, she tells them she was determined to personally see the last wish, for the Djinn to return to its bottle, fulfilled.
Rodney, a wooden soldier in the Adversary's army, writes a letter to his father Geppetto. He's a lieutenant in the infantry, currently serving in the Seventh Horde, which was sent to the Arabian World. They're currently occupying a captured stronghold which they renamed Fort Walder, after a brave wooden comrade who was destroyed in its initial sacking.
Night falls in Fort Walder. June tries to visit Rodney in his quarters, but she's turned away by Captain Arturo. She tells the captain that Rodney's upcoming punishment should also be hers as well, as it was his love for her that made him write the letter.
In a small port town in Russia, Mowgli continues his search for the elusive Bigby Wolf by asking in a local pub. He pays for a sea captain's drink, who invites the westerner to sit. Mowgli shows a picture of Bigby, but the captain hasn't seen him.
Mowgli arrives by seaplane to the Alaskan wilderness. Once the pilot drops him off and as soon as he departs, Mowgli removes his shirt, his satchel, and leaves them behind in a cache within some tree branches. In his element at last, the boy raised by wolves lives off the land the way he was taught, hunting his own food, sleeping under the trees.
All of the Remembrance Day guests are standing upon the roof of King Cole's penthouse suite. Bigby Wolf has just revealed that the allegedly murdered Rose Red is alive and well - and present among the assemblage. Feeling proud of himself, Bigby goes to great lengths to explain who did what, how they did it, and how he managed to figure it all out.
Bigby and Mowgli meet Prince Charming, Beast, and Rose Red on a side road just on the outskirts of the Farm. Bigby doesn't want to waste any time, he wants to begin the briefing on the mission as soon as possible. They take a van out onto a rough road that goes into the most restricted section of the Farm, where a magic beanstalk has grown.
Cinderella was still in the Cloud Kingdoms, trying to get an audience with the King, who was currently feeling ill. All she wanted, as she explained to the aids time and time again, was a signature on the treaty between the Cloud Kingdoms and Fabletown, which she had to re-negotiate twelve different times because they kept switching out kings. Apparently, the job of being High King over all the other kings in the clouds isn't very enjoyable and so no one wants to do it for very long.
Joel Crow is a barber, but only for one customer. That customer was Rapunzel, who would always visit him twice daily for a haircut, as her hair grows as fast as 4 inches every hour due to a witch's curse. This makes it difficult for her to be out among the Mundy, she can never stay in one place for very long, lest they notice.
